VAN’s instructions tell you to sculpture a glob of clay to fabricate a fiberglass fairing that attaches to the lower cowl and the nose gear fairing, similar to the main gear fairings. I’ve decided not to do that, so instead, I fabricated a filler plate with nutplates and a small aerodynamic “handle” to hold it in place while I attach it with special washer-head screws. I rounded the forward and aft portions of the bracket to fit into the cuts I made into the lower cowl to facilitate installing the cowl. After riveting, I primed and painted with white enamel paint.
