Brief Description: Install Oil Access Door (Cont.)
I thought I was done with the Oil Access Door, but after building up the upper-cowling with 20 strips of fiberglass cloth, I still had an unacceptable gap using the VANs supplied, fiberglass oil access door. So, I fabricated a new door out of aluminum and bent it to fit the curvature of the opening. I should have done this in the first place! The bad news is the new aluminum door is slightly thinner than the fiberglass door so I have to remove just about ½ of the fiberglass cloth build-up material I installed three weeks ago! C’est la vie…the story of my RV building life.
