Brief Description:  Install Cowl Louvers

About a year ago I purchased some aluminum Cowl Louvers to install in the bottom cowl to improve engine air cooling. The process to install these Cowl Louvers is to first use a sanding disk to remove the honeycomb core material in the areas shown in the first picture. After the honey core is removed and tapered on the edges, I used fiberglass epoxy with flox mixed in to fill the tapered edges of the honeycomb core. The next steps involve applying 5 layers of 9 oz/sq yard plain weave E-glass fabric wet-out with epoxy resin; then, provide a smooth surface for attaching the louvers by using epoxy resin wetted peel ply.
