Brief Description: Continued Snorkel Install; Begin Air Ramp Mods
Now that I know the backside of the Snorkel VAN’s Prefabricated angle IS NOT the CORRECT ANGLE OR EQUAL DISTANCE TO THE RAMP INLET FLOOR after I cut the Snorkel. To compensate, I drilled the air filter mount brackets as low as I possibly could to still keep a rivet edge distance of at least 1/8” and far enough down into the Snorkel fiberglass so it wouldn’t crack when riveted. If I have to, I will fiberglass over the back-sides of the brackets and onto the Snorkel for strength. I also fabricated the sides and back of the air filter mount brackets, drilled holes, deburred, and dimpled to take flush rivets when I finally attach all this together. I also now realized I would need to fabricate a front piece and a different filter hold down on the outboard side. In order to mount this, I created an entirely different filter hold down mechanism and support angle for the side. I also trimmed the filter mounts and created a new front mount since I followed outdated instructions and cut off the front of the Inlet Floor Ramp!
