Brief Description:  Install Baffling (cont.)

Moving around the back and right side of the engine I clecoed, drilled, deburred, and installed all of the pieces for the support braces, support brackets, doubler-plates, air vent with wire screen; and cut the holes for the spark plug wires into the CB-707A and CB-708A baffles for right aft and side of cylinder #3 (see pic #1). As in the other baffles, a fair amount of messaging was necessary to get the fins and bolt holes aligned. Then I did the 7X cowl on-cowl off marking and cutting for final fit; painted with the “New Ford Grey” and let it cure overnight. All-in-all, I thought this went fairly well…until it was time to put the bolt into the engine block behind the oil filler tube! This was the third time since I started building this airplane it took me over 7 hours to install a single bolt!!! If I wasn’t so close to finishing building this airplane, once again, I would consider taking the entire piece of **** to the scrap metal recycle yard! I guess it’s pretty obvious, I’m not really enjoy building this airplane, and the baffles are no exception. It should be a pretty nice flying machine when it’s done, but until then…
