Brief Description: Install Fuel Injection Servo, & Mixture Linkages

I installed the Fuel Injection Servo, Mixture and Throttle Linkages over the last three days. I had a little surprise when I removed the temporary phenolic seal and gasket where the Fuel Injection Servo is mounted. I looked inside the chamber where the air/mixture is injected and found over ¼ inch of preservative oil in the bottom of the chamber. Before I installed the servo, I had to clean out the entire chamber, using rags to sop-up the oil. Once that was complete, I installed the servo. There was a lot of trial and error to figure out how this thing goes on because the control levers were not pointing in the correct directions for the Throttle and/or Mixture Controls. Eventually, after rotating the servo 90 degrees, 4 times, I realized the control levers have a toothed fitting so you can remove the securing nut and face the levers in the direction you need them. I installed a new gasket and bolted the servo on, torquing the nuts to 135 in/lb. Next, I installed the mixture control linkages, made necessary adjustments and connected the Mixture Control; making sure I had full forward and aft movement to the manufactured stops on the servo. OP 22 drawings have a lot to be desired and there was no narrative other than, “install the servo and linkages per drawings”. Anyway, after another couple hours of trial-and-error I got the mixture controls correct. I will have to order a 3-inch extension for the Throttle Control before I can get the linkages installed due to outdated installation plans. It also looks like I will need to fabricate another Throttle Cable Control Bracket. Finally, I connected the fuel hose from the fuel pump and secured the hose in 2 places using Adel Clamps mounted to the engine mount and one of the intake tubes.
