Brief Description: Making Template for Firewall Fire-Shield
|
|
Haven’t worked on the firewall for a couple weeks. Managed to get the flu or possibly Covid-19 even though I’ve had the shots for both! C’est la vie. We survived. Anyway, today I’ve asked my wife to help create templates to cut the fire-shield for the firewall. I’m installing this, not so much for fire; although, if I ever have one, I’m sure I’ll be very glad I did; instead, I’m primarily installing this to keep the cockpit from heating up in the summer and for sound-proofing. We started making the templates from paper, but the paper tore so my wife came up with Plan B to use felt and pin the cut-out pieces. This worked reasonably well, but was very time consuming and marginally accurate. In-total, it took about 8 hours to make the felt templates. The next day, I transferred the felt cutouts to a solid paper cutout, making larger round and rectangular shapes. I then cut the paper into panels to insert around all the stuff I have installed on the firewall.
