Brief Description: Windscreen Hold Down Clips - Filling the Void
After sanding/scuffing the windscreen and aluminum to accept fiberglass, I fabricated some clips to press the windscreen onto the fuselage skin and to hold it in-place on the sides. VAN’s only recommended 3 clips total, but I used 7 because I had gaps on the sides of the windscreen that were big enough to insert my index finger between the windscreen and the fuselage skin. It wasn’t that I cut the windscreen incorrectly, the gaps were created in the canopy plexiglass molding process. Apparently, VAN’s fixed this issue in later models of the RV. In any case, I ground down the plexiglass to fit and fabricated clips and pop-riveted the clips to the skin. The riveted clips really tightened down the windscreen especially on the sides (perhaps a little too much as you will see later).
