Brief Description: Installed Cabin Heat Inlet Valve and Control
I installed the Cabin Heat Inlet Valve onto the opening in the firewall. I had to research which direction the scat-tubing and heat muff would be on the engine exhaust system and finally figured I had to mount the inlet tube facing the right side of the aircraft. I temporarily installed the firewall access cover to make sure the Cabin Heat Inlet Valve would clear the access cover and then I created a template to mark where the valve nutplates were installed and used this to drill holes for the mounting screws. Next, I dry-fitted the valve to make sure everything lined-up correctly and removed the assembly to place high-temperature RTV sealant between the valve and the firewall to make sure I never get fumes or gases leaking into the cockpit. After installing the Cabin Heat Inlet Valve, I routed the heat control cable and mounted clamps in four locations to secure the cable. That part of the project was difficult because I had to drill and mount the clamps in-and-around all the wiring bundles. Two of the mounting bolts took me (2) hours each just to get the clamps secure. Not a lot of fun, but it’s done and the heat selector control works very well.
