Brief Description:  Leading Edge

I haven't posted in a while as our daughter's wedding caused a scheduling conflict ;-) The week before their wedding, my now son-in-law came over and helped me with wrapping the leading edge. Using mulitple straps it wasn't too bad. Interestingly, we had it wrapped, the holes lined up with the spar but the upper skin holes were suddenly out of alignment. The leading edge is supposed to overlap the upper skin, both being riveted to the main spar. After some serious head scratching we figured out that the rear spar attachment point was resting on the table surface, causing a minor twist in the wing, taking the upper skin out of aligment. Once we allowed the wing to lay flat, everything was perfect... talk about self jigging!!!

The outer wingtip is a real pain. Sadly, no "how to" help from the manual. We ended up using straps to wrap the outer leading edge over the fiberglass wingtip, then drilling the holes into the fiberglass as the skins were already drilled as a guide. I'll try something else on the other wing, I had to work out a slight dent from the straps. I also installed a conduit tube in preparation for the wiring for the wingtip strobe/nav light.
