Brief Description:  Fuel tank pressure test

I was pretty nervous about drilling holes in the tanks and installing the fittings... Turns out that it wasn't too bad. Holes were drilled, fittings installed with the recommended thread sealer. After rinsing to ensure no left over plastic bits from the drilling were still in the tank, I began to wonder how to check for leaks.

A friend of mine and experienced builder, Joel Dean Spray, suggested a low pressure air test. He cautioned me to use a bicycle pump and a ballon to avoid damaging the tanks. I couldn't find a ballon, so I looked around my shop and used the next best thing, a latex glove. After rigging a piece of hose with a valve stem from a bike tube, air was pumped into the tank until the glove inflated. After an hour, soapy water was sprayed on all connections and watched carefully. I can gleefully say that none of the tanks or fittings have leaked! Whew !!! Maybe ICP know what they are doing after all ;-) One can spend too much time on the internet reading horror stories and not enough time building... nuff said :)
