Brief Description: Misc. wing tasks, tank testing, autopilot servo, e
I leak tested the gas tanks over the last three days. The left tank had two leaks I was able to identify with soapy water. Both leaks were on seams that needed a good smear of proseal to correct. The right tank tested perfect the first time. Testing turned out to be fairly easy. I installed the fuel drain to seal that hole. I made a small stub flared tube to fit the fuel feed bulkhead flare and sealed it with a silicone plug. I made a second stub for the fuel vent and connected the balloon there by wrapping with electrical tape. I added air through the fuel vent to fill the balloon. Soapy water and a small paint brush to check for leaks... then wait for two days to see if the balloon went down.
I installed the GSA 28 autopilot servo in the right wing. I made a mount for the pitot heat controller and installed the controller. I drilled and installed the bulkhead gromets in the right wing (forgot to do that when I built the wing) I ran the pitot and static lines out the pitot mount location. I ran the 22-3 shielded wire for the wing tip lights/strobe in the right wing. I spent hours cleaning the shop and reorganizing the benches/machines/tools to allow room to install the right wing when it's ready. Now it just gives me more open space to work on the wings. I ordered the electric aileron trim kit from Vans (forgot to add to the wing kit when I ordered it)
