Brief Description:  Finished riveting aft top skin; started canopy.

We finished the aft top skin riveting today. It had to be complete before we started installing the canopy slider frame.

We started on the canopy slider frame by installing the rollers at the front of the frame. Next I drilled the slider block onto the rear of the canopy frame that slides up the slider spacer/rail that is installed on the aft top fuselage skin. Can't get in a hurry while working on this part of the project. They say it's more of a trial and error as you try to get the canopy frame and plexiglass bubble to slide they want you want it to slide.

I cut and drilled the canopy roller tracks that were clamped to the canopy decks left and right. They will need some more cutting when the frame is fitted. One step at a time. Next came drilling the screw and rivet holes in the slider spacer and the slide block rail which are double-flush riveted together and is bolted through the top aft fuselage skin into the F787 top rib. I've got to countersink the spacer rail on the bottom (to be flush with the top skin) and the slider rail on the top before riveting them together. I will back rivet them together to get the double-flush. The slider rail allows the canopy to slide back and up over the rear fuselage.

After 8 hours in the garage we decided it was time to call it quits for this day.
