Brief Description: Finished trimming, prepping, & priming forward top
After going out for breakfast and a morning drive to the Hamilton Pool Grotto for a 30 minute hike, Charlotte and I returned home to finish that darned top forward fuselage skin.
We trimmed the right edge using the bandsaw; then I smoothed the edge with a Vixen file and the deburring tool. We then scuffed the inside surface preparing it for priming. Charlotte dimpled the skin using the DRDT-2 dimpling tool while I helped her move the skin to place each hole on the die. We cleaned the surface to be primed with acetone.
I reeled out my 50' air hose from the garage to the hanging rod between the tree and the fence in our front yard. It was a beautiful day with a light breeze, perfect for priming. I then mixed the primer and reducer and proceeded to put three light layers of primer onto the skin hanging from the rod.
It's a done deal and is ready to be riveted at the appropriate time. I plan to complete the wiring, instrument panel, and the firewall forward before riveting the skin.
