Brief Description:  Started Horizontal Stab Tips Installation.

Decided to continue installing tips, this time for the horizontal stabilizer. The tips had to be cut to match the HS tip that we had to cut shorter for elevator clearance. I had to drill the holes on the HS with the tips clamped in place but could not decide on the hole spacing even though the drawing said 4 holes about 1 1/2" spacing. The spacing had to be such that the blind rivets would pull the fiberglass tip up tight into the curvature of the very small radius leading edge. After much figuring, I made a paper pattern that had 0.5" - 1.3" - 1.3" -1.3" spacing begining at the aft edge of the tip toward the leading edge. The leading edge blind rivet was abeam the rivet in the rib, therefore, it would pull the tip in tight to match the rib to skin curvature. I pilot drilled the skin to #40 holes and then clamped the tip and match drilled the holes to #30. I deburred the holes and then dimpled them. I used my deburring tool to countersink the holes drilled in the tips. (I had already epoxied alcad strips inside the tips to give the rivets a better grip than just fiberglass.)
Tommorrow I will enclose the opening before I install the tips.
