Brief Description: Drilled out and reriveted 3 rivet in aileron hinge
The hinges with four pieces that used the AN470AD4-11 rivets could not be squeezed squarely using the hand squeezer. I decided to drill out the middle rivets that went through the short angles and use the rivet gun and the bucking bar with the assembly in the vise.
I drilled out the middle rivet in the short angle that went through four thicknesses and into the other angle on the two inboard assemblies. I used the drill press and shimmed the assembly to get a perfectly perpendicular hole. I believe it came out ok, although you could tell that the new rivet was not as snug when inserted into the hole. Charlotted used the rivet gun while I bucked with the tungsten bucking bar. I think they are acceptable. We'll see what the Tech Counselor thinks about them.
