Brief Description: VS lower 3 bolts holes drilled and install
1. Clean, scuff,clean, primer (cscp) the outside of elevator push tube F-841. After it dried I inserted the threaded bearings in each end and scred them in evenly until total length was 72 5/16 inchs.
2.** Final drilled the bottom 3 holes in vertical stab by first inserting a bushing in the tailwheel weldments predrilled holes and then drilling enough to only mark the drill hole location on the inside of the vs rear spar. Used a threaded 1/8 bit 1nch long in a 90 degree drill attachment hooked to a flex attachment. Was easily accessable with this set up.
3. Removed the VS and transfered measurements to rear of spar to verify that the hole locations are going to come out on the bottom hinge with proper clearence. It looked good so I drilled the previously marked holes 1/8 inch and they look good. Increased the hules with a unibit, then a 15/64 bit and final reamer 1/4 inch.
4. Made a spacer to go between the tailwheel weldment and the bulkhead out of .025 aluminum scrap and match drilled it to the spar, slipped it in place and lightly bolted the VS back in place. Measured for square and clamped. Tightened the bolts down.
