Brief Description:  Floats, Pitot, Tie downs, spacers, head scratching

Today was about 50% headscratching and plans studying and 50% building. Good thing I had 10 hours to spend!

1. Align the fuel pick up line with access plate so that it will lay on bottom of fuel tank. Taped ends to keep dirt out. Tightened the AN Nuts on the tube by the alternate 2 method of seating by hand then marking and turning additional 1/4 turn. Its ready for install on acces plate with rivits and proseal when I commit to closing tanks. 0.5 hr

2. made final hook bends in the ends of fuel float arms so that it will sit inside the center hole on sender and then snap into retainer clips. 0.5 hr

3. After getting a new multifunction meter, I was able to test resistance on the fuel sending units. They checked out just fine. Around 30 ohms in full position and 245 ohms in the empty postions.
0.5 hrs

4. Fabricated the pitot tube and bent with bending tool 90 degrees. When installed with mounting hardware, it will have a 6.5 inch drop and 3 inch run. 0.5 hr

5. Carefully measured and marked the hole locations in the bottom wing skin/spar flange for the pitot line and pitot tube hardware. Did this several times to insure mistake free. pilot drilled with #40 drill bit and then used the unibit to step the holeup untill 7/16" achieved.Temporarily installed the mounting hardware and then bent the pitot line down to tie in. will flare the ends when the flaring tool arrives. Will then be able to tighten it all together. 1.5 hr

6. Fabricated two inbd lower and two inbd upper spacers for aileron hinges. Also cut 2 more spacers for the bellcrank. 0.75

7. Drilled the tie down points to 7?16 inch and about 1.5 inches deep. I then tapped the hole with the 3/8" tap to accept the tie down rings. Inserted tie down rings to make sure they fit tight. Will find some nylon or rubber washers to use to protect skins finish since I will be stowing the rings when not in use. 1.0 hr.

more picures of today are posted as well.
