Brief Description: Leading edges of Rt and Lt elevators
Started out rolling bottom skin of left elevator with one long 1 inch diameter steel pipe. This tends to put too much bend on the narrow skin at tip and not enough at inboard end where there is more skin. I tried using shorter pipe and did the bend in 3 sections on other side. I also used Gorilla tape instead of cheap duct tape. This was much better and did not stretch or pull away while bending. Spent most of the time adjusteing the bends by hand after the initial rolling and also bending edges slightly in order to provide a tight edge. This was lots of work but worked out well. Also clecoed, drilled and deburred before riviting with AD41-abs blind rivits.
Left elevator bottom skin taped to steel pipe lengthwise. Ready for bending
Left elevator top skin being rolled in 3 sections.
