Brief Description:  Oil cooler/plenum support

Now that the engine mount is in place, I could tackle the oil cooler mount. This was made infinitely easier because Bob duplicated his effort at making the oil cooler mount and sent me the pre-measured and prebent hardware, complete with measurements, drawings, AN bolts, washers, and nuts! Thanks for the huge head start!

The first step was assembling the oil cooler and plenum and clamping all the hardware to see the essential fit. The oil cooler holes in Bob's hardware have been pre-drilled, but everything else is a custom fit, so I will drill the holes in the support brackets where Bob left plenty of extras. I then marked my preliminary hole locations on the firewall, as I also was provided with those measurements. Then I looked at different angles to ensure the hardware matched the firewall holes, and the plenum cleared the engine mount crossbar. That took the most time because there are many different ways to align all the moving parts.

Slowly but surely, I moved methodically and drilled hole by hole, from small pilot holes to the AN bolt-sized holes, until the mount was complete. I made some adjustments to Bob's firewall hole locations, but I was able to tie into the existing firewall supports for all holes, which was the main goal.
