Tonight I worked on the smoke manifold backing plate. This plate will mount on the inside of the firewall and provide additional structure for the smoke oil manifold. I am running a smoke oil line to each of my four exhaust pipes, so I will need a larger oil hose running from the tank thru the pump to the firewall pass-thru, fitting into another hose, and finally to the manifold. The manifold has one inlet and four outlets for the hoses that go to the four exhaust pipes. The backing plate will have three nutplates on it, and there will be three bolts holding the manifold on. I got as far as cutting out the aluminum sheet stock for the backing plate, smoothing it, and then marking and drilling pilot holes. I am following Bob’s lead on this as he has already done this part. He also machined the manifold, so thanks for that too!
