Brief Description:  Landing Gear Fairing #17

While sitting around with no engine mount hardware, we decided it was safe to remove the landing gear fairings and look inside. I slowly pulled out the hinge pin, which slid out easily as the cling wrap did an excellent job of keeping the foam out of the hinges, but with the tire now installed, I pulled the pin out and down. With the pin out, I slowly pried the fairing from the gear leg, and Bob's extra hands made it much more manageable. Inside the fairings, I was happy to find that the foam had dried entirely and had formed a well-defined channel for the gear leg. The PVA release and the packaging tape did a great job keeping the foam from adhering to the gear leg, and the fairing popped right off. With the left fairing off, we removed the right one and realized I had forgotten to wrap the gear leg with the packaging tape - without any difference to the outcome. We both breathed a sigh of relief as the landing gear fairing alignment and installation process was complete, and did some gear leg clean-up.
