Using the measurement of the top and bottom of the landing gear as a guide and comparing that to the inside dimension of the gear fairing, I slid the hinge forward a bit on the left gear fairing in hopes that it would provide a tighter fit. I will still need to use the expanding foam inside the gear fairing, but I hope to improve the fit if possible. I measured, marked, clamped, and drilled the bottom and top of the fairing and hinges.
After all the marks were drilled and clecoed, I slid the hinge pin into the hinge halves and realized there was quite a bit of tension with the hinge pulling the fairing together. That was the original intent, but it's likely pulling too much, as the hinge pin is difficult to insert. I will take another look, but I think I will need to re-drill the hinge farther aft, allow the gear fairing to be thicker, and plan to use more interior foam.
