Brief Description: Thick Part of Cowling/Reference Line Drawn
I took the top cowling off and the snap ring on the aft side grommet popped off. That part of the cowling is thicker than the rest of the cowl. The grommet is not long enough to go thru the cowl and still have some length for the snap ring to grab.
I measured and marked the center of the receptacles for the lower aft corner on each side. I drew a line from the center of the receptacle and marked a one inch reference mark. This will be used to double-check the pilot holes in the cowling.
The top cowling was removed and the aft fuselage braces were taken off. The two spacers that go between the braces and the firewall were also removed. The top skin was also taken off the fuselage.
