Brief Description:  Taped Top Skin in Preparation of New Fairing

I decided to go with Jeff's suggestion on making a new fairing around the front of the windshield. I taped the windshield and the top skin in preparation of laying up fiberglass. The new glass will have to be mated into the existing fairing along the sides. I decided to not use the front portion of the fairing because it would still need to be modified, probably by splitting it in the center and adding more material, as well as adding more material around the left front corner.

A paper template was made for cutting the glass. Jeff stopped by and we believe that we will go with six layers of cloth, with cutting the center sections of half of them out for the overlap, like the canopy fairing was done.

The clips holding the windshield down were taped over. Jeff reminded me that the fiberglass will take the shape of the clips if the taping is left as is and the cloth is laid over. Clay or bondo will be put over the clips and the windshield/skin mating and then the bondo will be sanded down for a better curve for the glass to lay in.
