Brief Description: Countersunk Side Rails/Frame Drilled to Weldments
I used the cut-off wheel in the Dremel to cut down two AN507-6R8 screws for the most-forward hole thru the C-660 canopy skirt, the canopy, and the C-759 inside canopy skirt. I am also using AN364-6/32 nuts. I drilled a pilot hole thru the canopy frame and the roller weldment on each side and then drilled the holes up to size, #12 bit. I determined the approximate location for the lock, on the left skirt at the front of the canopy. I took out the AN509 screws on the canopy rails and countersunk each hole so that AN515 screws can be used. This removes any possible interference with the tip-up mod stops that will be riveted to the roller weldments. I measured the length needed for the canopy tip-up support rod, 21 1/8'' hole-to-hole. I had to cut off approximately 4'' from the rod. The end was cleaned and I enlarged the hole with a #3 bit, then tapped it. The canopy can now be supported properly. I swept out the fuselage.
I received the Zaon MRX back after repair. It was not interrogating the a/c's transponder properly. RMA #DRE25315.
