Brief Description:  Drilled Canopy Rails to the Deck

I filed the fuselage edge of the left canopy support. The edge had an overhang of almost 1/8''. This was filed off. I located and drilled the canopy rails with a #40 bit.

Dave came out and looked over the set-up of the canopy rails. We measured the position of the rails and agreed that the fuselage is not square, so the inboard edge of the rails will not be parallel to the canopy deck. We centered the rails with the canopy frame and drilled the rails at the forward position. With Dave's help, we measured the rails to ensure that they were square at the front and aft positions. I taped the rear track in place to check the movement of the canopy frame. The aft hole in both tracks needs to have spacers inserted. Dave and I decided to trim the aft corner of the canopy supports and lay in spacers drilled to the canopy rails. The three spacers for each side were made using scrap .040 material. The spacers were then drilled to the rail in a second hole, which will be used to rivet the spacers to the rails.
