Brief Description:  Visitor/Drilled Support Arm/Riveted Bracket

I marked off the position of the bolt hole at the top of the support arm on the roll bar and drilled a #40 pilot hole on one side. I placed tape around the support arm end and marked lines on each side of the end. I then checked the position of the line thru the pilot hole and found the hole was slightly off center. I used a file to move the hole down to center the hole better. I clamped the arm in the V-jig and drilled #40 pilot holes in the arm in the drill press. I then repositioned and clamped the arm in the roll bar and drilled #40 thru the existing three holes and thru the opposite side of the roll bar. I then enlarged all holes to #30 size, checked the position of the holes, and drilled the holes to the final size using a 1/4" bit. The holes were deburred. I marked off the location of the bracket on the doubler which lies on the opposite side of the center rib. I then marked and drilled pilot holes in the doubler. I clamped everything together and drilled the doubler to the rib. I deburred everything and riveted the doubler to the rib with the rivet gun. I cut off a corner of the bottom end of the support arm and smoothed the edges. I clecoed the forward top skin in place and drilled the outboard sides of the brackets on the instrument subpanel to the outboard ribs. Deburred the holes and then riveted everything together.
