Brief Description:  Engaged Starter to Build up Oil Pressure

The bottom spark plugs were removed from the cylinders. With Randy Brooks and Gary Kohler watching the engine for any abnormalities and leaks, I engaged the starter for the first time. I ran the starter for about fifteen seconds to build up oil pressure in the engine, getting ready for the engine start. I was looking for 20 psi, but a low pressure of about 7 psi was noted. We waited about five minutes to let the starter cool down and engaged the starter again for another fifteen seconds.Still no pressure yet. We then let it sit for over a half hour and engaged the starter again. At about the fifteen second point, oil pressure rose rapidly thru 15 psi to over 20 psi and I stopped running the starter.

The engine is officially preoiled!

The spark plugs were reinstalled in the cylinders and torqued to 32 ft-lbs. The springs in the ignition wires were wiped off with acetone, to get rid of any finger oils. The ignition wires were then installed on the plugs and tightened.
