Brief Description:  Starter Cable/Fuel Lines Firewall Forward Complete

I routed the starter cable along the right side of the engine. I clamped the cable to the C-606 strap bracket and then to the engine.
I screwed a fuel line fitting into the carb and tightened it up. The carb and gasket were bolted to the engine sump. The fuel line from the fuel pump was screwed into the carb and tightened.
I cut a length of 3/8'' tubing and bent it in an attempt to connect the firewall fuel fitting to the gascolator. I bent it with about a 135° bend and flared the ends without any hardware. This will work, but the gascolator fitting has to be changed again from a straight to a 45° fitting. I changed the fitting and Tim and I made three more tubes before we were able to make one that would pass muster. The main problem was that the tube bender developed a nick and was gouging the tube. The nick was finally polished out and the tube was bent almost to completion. Another problem was that the fittings had to placed on the tube prior to flaring and, because of the tight bend, the fittings got in the way of the tube bender. Tim used a 2'' steel pipe to finish the bend. The tube was installed and connected to the fittings.
I discovered that I had attached the fuel line to the ??, instead of the fuel pump, I disconnected the hose and connected it to the fuel pump. This allowed the hose to be connected more easily to the gascolator. The gascolator fitting had to be replaced again from a straight to a 45° fitting, which was done. The fuel line was then attached to the gascolator.
The fuel system forward of the firewall is now complete!
