Brief Description: More Trimming of Wing Root Fairings
Both wing root fairings needed the inside edges trimmed more so that the rubber trim would lie properly against the wing. I determined the areas that needed trimming by measuring the gap between the edge of the fairing and the fuselage. I wanted the gap to be uniformly 3/16''. A piece of tape was applied along the edge marking where filing needed to take place. The fairing was removed from the wing and clamped to a table on each side of the area to be filed. A metal file was used on the edge and then a Scotchbrite pad on a die grinder used to smooth out the cut marks. The fairings were then clecoed on the wing with the rubber trim in place for another check.
