Brief Description:  Vertical Stabilizer

Drilled out the two bad rivets. Reriveted with Dad bucking. Clecoed right side of vertical stab and riveted skin w/Dad bucking. Started in the center and worked down VS-47 rib and out forward spar to VS-404 bottom rib. Attempted to put a hand in to buck rivets along the rest of the forward spar to the tip rib. Found that there was no room between the skin and the skeleton because of the VS-407 rib and skin being completely riveted together. Had to drill out the two rivets closest to the rear spar. This gave me just enough room to get my arm in to buck. Finished riveting the forward spar and skin and then reriveted the two rivets that had been drilled out. Used pneumatic squeezer to rivet the skin around the skeleton. Took vertical stab out of jig. Riveting along the rear spar next to the reinforcement plate found that the rivet set was not big enough to completely cover the machine head of the rivet and put smiles on four rivets. Used a small scrap of aluminum to cover the head of the rivet to prevent this from happening. Vertical stab complete except for drilling out and reriveting four rivets. Visitor-Mom
