Brief Description: Trimmed VS forward spar/Marked Rear Spar
After finding that there is a gap of 1/2'' between the VS and the tail section, I took the 1/4'' bolts out of the tailwheel bracket/fuselage area. This allowed the VS to sit flush against the fuselage. The VS front spar now sits more than 1/2'' forward of the HS forward spar. I reviewed my notes and builders' web sites for any mention of this. Justice's notes and Checkoway's website say that they trimmed as much as 5/8'' off. I trimmed off 1/2'' with a cutoff wheel on the Dremel. I drew centerlines on the VS rear spar. I placed the VS back on the HS and determined that there was stilll a gap of about 1/4" between the aft side of the VS forward spar and the HS forward spar, which will have the front spar brace F-681 riveted and bolted to the two tail surfaces. This 1/4" gap needs to have spacers installed.
Update: 12/17/08-Jeff Paden to the rescue. Called in a favor from a friend and got me a solid .025" spacer.

VS rear spar centerline marked for positioning on fuselage
