The instrument top skin was placed on the fuselage and the center canopy support rod was inserted. The two bolts were screwed in place. After the bolts were tightened up, I noticed that the TruTrak autopilot ADI needed to have the pitot and static plugs inserted. I was able to lift the skin up high enough to get one of the plugs inserted, but could not get the second one. After an hour or so of trying to screw the one plug in, I took the rod bolts outs and the top skin off. This gave me better access to the ADI and I finally got the plug screwed in place.
The top skin was reinstalled on the fuselage and the bolts were inserted. I had trouble getting the second bolt tightened up and Joe and Jake Walker showed up. Joe was able to help me get the second bolt tightened. The top skin was clecoed in place. The center area of the top skin was riveted to the ribs close to the support rod with pull rivets, AACQ4-3.
Jeff Paden came out and helped me rivet the top skin to the center rib.
