Brief Description: Tach Sensor to Mag/Retimed Mag/Eng Review
Tom Cullen, IA from Wakeman Airport, came to the shop and took the left mag off, in order to install the tach sensor on the right side. The impulse coupler is on the left mag and the mag had to be retimed. Tom used the 25 degree mark on the back side of the ring gear, aligning it with the crankcase half. Tom pointed out the reference point on the starter and the fact that the point was about 1.5 degrees off from the 25 degree mark.
Tom looked over the engine installation and gave me some tips. He suggested that the tie-wraps on the engine mounts should be replaced with lacing string and to use Koroseal lacing for tieing the Scat tubing to the engine mount. Another suggestion from Tom is to use PK screws to stabilize the ends of the carb heat muff and the heat muff on the exhaust.
The starter pin reference point shows the 25 degree point off by 1.5 deg
The proper 25 degree mark to be used for mag timing, on the ring gear
