Brief Description:  Torqued Engine Mount Bolts/Installed Gear Legs

I took the nuts off the two bolts that I had improperly torqued the night before. The threads were slightly chewed up from the washers, so I decided to get replacements. I met Dave Manning at Dane Jorgensen's hangar at Wadsworth Airport, but Dane did not have any. We then went to Skypark Airport to see if Fred had any, which he did. Dave also suggested that I remove any powdercoating that is on the engine mount which would contact either the firewall or the washers under the bolts. I used the die grinder to do this. I then hung the mount on the firewall and torqued the bolts/nuts to 175 in-lbs, per the torque value chart in AC 43.13b. All of the cotter pins were installed in the mount bolts. Per Dave's suggestion, I curled the long end of the cotter pins so that the sharp edge is hidden.
With perfect timing, Joe Walker and his family, Kristen, Joe, and Jordan, showed up and helped me lift and place the fuselage onto sawhorses. Having the engine mount at this height allowed Joe and me to insert the landing gear rods into the engine mount. Joe brought wheel bearing grease with him, so we greased up the unpainted areas of the rods. The appropriate bolts were inserted thru the mount and the rods. We then installed the U-403 brake mount flange onto each axle. The wheels were placed on the axles and then the locking nuts from Avery's RV Jack Stand kit were screwed onto each axle. Joe lifted the fuselage and I pulled out the sawhorses, one at a time. The fuselage was lowered so that it was setting on the gear for the first time!
I placed seat cushions in the cockpit. Joe and I took turns sitting in the cockpit, getting used to the deck angle.
