Brief Description:  Finished Assist Handles/Canopy Lock

I enlarged the forward holes for the canopy handles to #12 size for the 3/16" AN3-5A bolts that will be used, except for one hole. This hole was not centered properly, so I had to move the hole. I used files and a cutter on the Dremel tool to enlarge the hole. The handles are now done.

I began work on the canopy lock. I clecoed all braces and the left side skirt in place. I then positioned the lock and found the proper position for its location, in the center of the most-forward cutout of the inside brace. I drilled a 3/4" hole in the side skirt for the latch. I made a 2"x1 3/8" bracket for the lock out of scrap. This will be riveted to the lower rivet line of the side skirt and the inside brace. The bracket's holes were countersunk for the rivets and the bracket was primed. The anti-rotation piece of the lock was drilled to the bracket. The bracket's holes were countersunk for the rivets and the bracket was primed. I had to make a second bracket because it rotated when I inserted and tightened the lock. I drilled the bracket in place to the side skirt while it had already rotated, so the bracket was skewed.
