Brief Description: Trimmed Glareshield Edge/1st Chk of Fuel Tank
I cleaned up and straightened up the glareshield edge in the top skin. I made a cardboard template of the right side and copied it to the left side and filed the left side to match the right. I cleaned up the edges with the die grinder. I placed the glareshield trim in place and it looks great. I clecoed the side instrument panel brackets in place and reinstalled the top skin. The left aft edge of the skin does not line up with the holes. I thought it had, but not with the panel attached everywhere. I still need to file down the left side of the panel. I started to file down the angle bracket on the left side, using the Scotchbrite wheel.
I rubber-banded a balloon on the outflow fitting of the left fuel tank and screwed in a valve into the quick drain. I then placed the fuel cap into a rubber glove and reinserted the cap in place. I dropped the pressure of the air compressor down to about 30 psi and took off the spray nozzle on the compressor sprayer. The valve, borrowed from John Watjen, has a rubber tube attached to it. I inserted the rubber tube into the sprayer and blew air into the tank until the balloon blew up. I sprayed a soapy water mixture all over the tank and only found leaks around the valve and the fuel cap.
