Brief Description:  Fabricated reinforcement ring, made spacer, and re

Today I finished fabricating the reinforcement ring that the access panel screws to. Due to interference issues with the ring, W-425 gussett, and the rib at station 71.25, I had to do some modifications. The reinforcement ring is made from .040", so I made a spacer that goes between the gussett and the skin that is the same thickness.. I also had to remove a short section of the rib flange on the bellcrank rib to allow for the reinforcement ring. When cutting out this section of the rib flange, the rib cracked in 2 places near the cut, when the saw blade grabbed and 'shook' the rib. I removed the damage, and put a .040 reinforcement plate in the inboard side, (shown in the center of pic #2) and will put a short piece of angle on the outside of the rib to complete the repair. I started drilling the reinforcement ring to the skin, and made a joggle on the upper portion on both sides to tie into the spar flange. Tomorrow I will complete the rib repair, and also install a piece of angle that will go under the W-425 gussett to regain the strength lost by removing part of its flange for the reinforcement ring radius. The cause for all these modifications, is because I am building an older kit, with older and newer plans. The instructions are a bit lacking which leads to some head scratching moments. When these pieces are finished, I will have more than regained the strength that I lost trimming the gussett and rib.
