Brief Description:  Comms - & misc

Supposed to be a working on the plane day but got diverted with some more important events. Visit with a old friend and talking about airplanes, flying, and life. Then dinner with my wife. Priorites.

Tried to spend a few minutes between events working on the AP wiring but could not find the Molex pin removal tool and was stopped. Almost an hour of searching the hangar (Found it in the tool box later), and got diverted to another issue and solved a radio interference problem instead.

Since assembly of the instrument panel in the hangar I've had a lot of background hiss on Rx except when there is carrier from another plane or tower. Squelch did nothing to quiet it. Was beginning to worry. Tonight I accidentally turned OFF a power strip and my shop radio reception improved - so I checked the A/C radio and it was 'full quieting' on Rx. Isolation of the devices in the power strip identified the SnapOn LED work light as the source. No problems with the 48" LED hanging shop light, or other devices. It was so bad that it may be interfering with other plane comms in the proximity of my hangar.
