Finally got back to work on airplane parts and starting on small tasks first. Been re-organizing the workshop for weeks, and ready to push ahead.
Used a bandsaw and 1" belt sander to remove excess material from Acrylic lens components, first marking with a Sharpie along manufacturer's scribed lines, and then carefully making minor adjustments as the fit approached final position. The blue painters' tape worked well to protect the lens during this task.
Using the partial reflector from earliler testing of LEDs, I attached the AL angle mount on the underside of the fiberglass, with holes drilled for the LED 'bulbs' to protrube above the reflector. There are four holes for the lights, and I tested only one Grn LED, and one Strobe 'bud' but plan to use four position LEDs, and two strobe buds on each wingtip assembly. Started to cut-out new reflectors for both left and right sides. Next step is to wire up all the LED sockets.
Anyone familiar with the 'flat-top' wingtips of the -6/6A might notice that the GRN light is on the wrong (PORT) side tip. Just a matter of switching the LED bulb and happened to grab the GRN first for the test.
