Brief Description: Fabricated Grn NAV light prototype
|
|
After days of toying with various concepts of mounting schemes for the LED 'buds' to aggregate a wingtip fixture, I fabricated a four LED bracket, and tested the pig-tails.
The terminal block is 8 position, with a connector strip to 'gang' the hot (power) or return (ground) side with four connections (i.e., four LED buds).
The LED bud is inserted into a mini fuse holder, with solder connections. The LED bud is a self-contained LED and resistor so it acts like a convenient light bulb when connected to a 12V DC circuit. The bracket is designed to hold four of these fuse holders, each with a set of pig-tails added for the specific method chosen. (Still haven't decided to use ring terminals, might be a Dsub, or Molex.)
Assuming at this time that four LEDs for each wingtip will be sufficient for lighting threshold requirements. (Refer AC43).
Decided to order the Vans wingtip fiberglass cut-outs and W-415 (flat-top) lens to enclose NAV and strobes. Standoffs from RS -- 10mm, plastic/brass, pkg of 4, $2.99 P/N 276-1381.
