Brief Description: Component testing for A/C position & strobes
After receipt of some of my wiring supplies, and tools, I got serious about protyping my navigation position lights (LEDs) and strobe components (LEDs).
Elementary LED strobe control unit, Stroble cluster, and the requisite Red, White and Green LEDs were acquired months ago from Vertical Avionics.
Didn't worry about 'pretty' just working connections so that I could evaluate what will be required to install sufficient numbers and design of LEDs to meet the FAR requirements. Decided that both redundancy and illumination would benefit from adding more.
Will have a two cluster Strobe on each wing-tip, and construct a four LED arrangement for each with Red and Green. The tail-light will be a two LED configuration in a near normal looking rudder mount housing.
Ordered the extra LEDs from Vertical Avionics today. When it's revised, I'll drive up the hill and do some real visibility evaluation from a mile or two, minimum.
