Brief Description:  Canopy latch - attached

Measured six times, re-read plans for the nineth time, and cut once. WHEW - always scary to cut or drill highly visible items where it is almost impossible to high a mistake. Almost ready to cut in the slots the night before, but waited for a fresh look in the morning.

This little mechanism is nifty, looks simple but has lots of tweaks that need be done. Lots of filing, smoothing, and polishing of edges and mating surfaces. Placed UHM tape on the surfaces between the angles and moving parts, carefully filed and polished the 'slot' edges. countersunk and dimpled. Working smoothly, ready to do final assembly. Need to fabricate connector tubing to the locking mechanism before riveting. (May have to tweak the slot for movement of release arm, and filing 'in assembly' is not good.)

The spring was a little 'short' for the space to the channel, failing to apply force to the latch. I cut a short piece of alum tubing as a spacer and adjusted to get satisfactory tension.

Need to prime and rivet the assembly to the skin. Already know that a smaller bucking bar is needed to fit under the side rail.
