Brief Description:  Canopy latch mechanism

Reviewed the Dwg (#52 & 53) and cut the C-612 angles, match drilled the rivet holes for both pieces then layed out the dimensions for the release. Started with #40, then enlarged to #21 (3/16"), although one of the holes will go to 1/4", in assembly. Shaped the cut-out for the rod-end bolt clearance and inserted the C-609 (the little piece in #1) that retains the lever when closed.

The hole in the C-609 is factory punched and as can be seen, the hole was not positioned properly to align well with the WD-617 (lever) ... when the lever aligns with the outside of the angle. The part is small and I have 1/8" AL plate so it's time to make a new C-609 and drill it right.

NO PIC - Also checked the dimensions of the material supplied for fabricating the C610 push rod to the WD-617 canopy latch tube. I am concerned about the small diameter of the material. It's AS3-5/16 AL 6061 and both ends need to be tapped to 1/4 x 28. The threaded rod end visible in #1 goes in the front end of that rod. When tapped I am concerned about 'wall thickness' ...
