Brief Description:  Canopy frame & links

A hectic day, little here, little there. Focused on several tasks, all related to preparation for installing latches, links, and mounts in various parts of the canopy frame assembly.

Finally had enough prepared to install something and moved ahead on the canopy latching mechanism. This weldment mounts on the F-605 bulkhead and pivots to secure the canopy in the closed position. The linkage on the left side connects to the release on the pilot's left. Drilled the UHM blocks for 3/16" AN bolts on the drill press to get straight alignment. Used some velcro straps to 'hang' the crossbar in place, clamped one side and using UHM block as a guide, drilled the bulkhead. Then repeated for the left side. The height and position of the crossbar is dictated by plans, but turns out to interfere with the front of the electric flap motor support. This will require finding yet another alternative solution.

The linkage on the second pic is loosely positioned for testing, and needs to have a 'twist' put on the links to accommodate the left leaning bracket angle. This angle keeps the release away for the pilot's left arm. Need to be careful with placement on all these parts.
