Brief Description:  Canopy frame parts fabrication

In lieu of working through a series of installation tasks, I opted to prepare parts for multiple tasks before continuing. Sometimes it helps to fabricate the various parts that will be installed, and review the components ahead of time. Fabricating parts ahead of needing them lets me get the big picture and see how subsequent tasks will be affected by the earlier task. Some parts must be 'drilled in place' and it's important to know how these parts will be secured in position, too.

I started by deburring and buffing the pre-cut and pre-drilled parts, such as seen here. This also means removing blue protective plastic, and labelling parts with a Sharpie. The labels bleed through primer paints, too.

Fabricating the parts let's me see the relationships of the various mechanisms, and how the fasteners will connect. In the process of doing these parts, I found that I am missing three components (2x F-644 braces, and 1x F-643 brace). This gives me time to contact Vans to confirm part numbers, and order them. I also found the 'reinforcement' for the Tip-Up canopy is NOT included in the Finishing Kit, and can order that, too.

Later I'll revisit the F-697 (pic #3) and where it fits, but preparing these links ahead of the need helped in getting the position on F-668 accurately placed for a later task.
