Brief Description:  Canopy Frame - Splice place replacement

Drilled out and replaced the splice plate on the front of the canopy frame weldment, WD-622?

Failed to consider the interference created on skin of canopy by ignoring the called out position of the splice plate and attempting to position it with flange on top, instead of bottom of bow.

Needed to buy new splice plate, C-??? and re-position the canopy front bow. In the process of fitting the forward deck skin, and align with the canopy skin, found that the bow was too 'wide' at the sides, and too low in the center. New plate allowed adjustment to the alignment.

The Vans design called for the splice plate to be at the bottom flange and I caused myself a problem by putting it at the top. The rivets on top interfered with the skin rivets and the strength of the frame is weaker at the bottom.

Follow the plans more carefully. D'uh

UPDATE: After many more adjustments the correct splice placement paid off with better alignment.
