Brief Description:  Crankshaft lug replacements 1/2"

Ordered/Received a set of replacement crankshaft lugs to return the engine to the 180hp 'PROP' version (instead of the helo with a fan). Using some low-level 'tools' (a couple of rings of EMT, some bolts, and various washers/spacers), the 3/8th inch lugs were removed (pressed out) and the new 1/2 inch lugs pressed in. All except the 'indexing lug' which for some reason is not matching the press-fit dimensions. In fact, that lug seems to be about .020 too small to friction fit the crankshaft flange hole.

Contacted Saber Manufacturing and will return new lug (indexing) for replacement. [Note - Starter ring gear assembly now has to be swapped to match 1/2" lugs.] UPDATE: My crankshaft had a -P05 indexing lug, 0.005 oversized, i.e., non-standard. Will need a modified replacement lug.

For the time being, I re-attached the engine stand, this time with 1/2" prop bolts wood blocks for spacers. Now that I've done 5, the last one should be a quick (later).

Update on the prop shipment - delayed for 7-10 days more. Not a problem, just want to finish the deal. On Monday I signed the hangar lease, and a 90-day delayed occupancy. 1st of Jan 2012. Lots of work to do in prep.
