Brief Description:  Trim Tab - cable test fit

Dug out the clevis for the manual trim cable and inserted the cable into the left side of the HS and through the bottom of the Lt elevator. In review of the plans (Dwg 5PP) noticed that there should be a WD-415 weldment (small metal square tab and retainer nut) that will be pop riveted to the inside of the trim tab servo box cover. Located that weldment and cover.

Also, located the trim tab half of the hinge and reviewed the Van's website - specifications on hinges for RV's. It appears that I will need to prime the trim tab half of the hinge because it is not treated, and the elevator half was primed at the factory. Further information on the website indicated that the primer used by the factory is colorless, making the surface appear dull.

Now have a better understanding of the manual trim tab assembly. No further work on this task until the trim tab is being riveted together. It appears that almost all the required parts and pieces are here except for the screws for the trim tab servo cover. Did a little more checking the inventory of bins of little parts and labelling the drawers. Original purchaser dropped the contents of each "package" into a parts drawer without labelling the AN/MS specs or separating them into bins by P/N. Some of the 'mixed' bags of fasteners are less than obvious.
